Tagum Chamber holds 2024 Annual General Meeting; elects new BOTs

Tagum City, Davao del Norte – The Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (TCCCII) successfully held its 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 6, 2024, at Big 8 Corporate Hotel. The event brought together chamber members, business leaders, and stakeholders to review the chamber's accomplishments, discuss future initiatives, and elect the new Board of Trustees (BOT).

During the AGM, the President. Sean A. Gellangarin presented the chamber’s highlights of the year. Members lauded the chamber’s efforts in promoting local entrepreneurship, supporting MSMEs, and fostering economic growth in the city.

The election of the new Board of Trustees was a pivotal part of the event, ensuring continued leadership and strategic direction for the chamber. The three newly elected BOTs with a three-year term who will complement the six incumbents were:

Engr. Cleo S. Shiong Shu, Proprietor of Boylott Truck Trading
Mr. Elbert G. Ponce, Marketing Director of GPT Ventures, Inc.
Mr. Virgilio F. Agunod, Senior Partner of VF Agunod Auditing Office

In his speech, President Gellangarin expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the board and reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to its mission. "We are ready to face the challenges ahead and work closely with our members to create more opportunities for growth and prosperity in Tagum City and the region," he stated.

The AGM also featured discussions on upcoming projects, including the Mindanao Business Conference 2025, advocacy programs and the study of the construction of the TCCCII Office Building.

Ms. Emelita Apostol-Alvarez, PCCI NCR South Sector Regional Governor, graced the events as its honored guest speaker.
RG Alvarez emphasized the good relationship of the Chamber and the City Government, particularly the Council which has the best platform for pushing measures beneficial to the business community.

"Collaboration is the foundation of growth — it’s how we turn ideas into action and vision into reality," she said.
Meanwhile, CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. Interns facilitated the event as secretariat.

As the chamber enters a new chapter, it remains steadfast in its goal of empowering local businesses and contributing to the economic vitality of Davao del Norte.
