Brief history

Foundation

The Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded on June 24, 2005 and was registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission (Company Reg. No. CN200528378). With its first set of incorporators, the Chamber grew from fifteen (15) founding members to over 120 active members.

Reorganization

The pandemic's onset caused the global economy to collapse, and lengthy lockdowns stopped all trade, commerce, industrial, and agricultural activity. To revive the city's enterprises, the Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. had its first in-person general membership meeting intra-pandemic on February 18, 2022.

On this day, President Rita Tayong also handed the gavel to Engr. Aerol Conde, who outlined the three goals the Chamber will pursue in the next years, which are: improving the management system, stepping up recruitment efforts, and creating private-public collaborations, during the Board of Trustees' Oath Taking Ceremony for 2022-2023.

This restoration effort was scientifically supported by a focus group discussion and in-depth interview titled "A Taxpayer's Perspective on the Effects of Covid-19 to Businesses in Tagum City: Basis for Policy Enhancement" between January 18–20, 2022 in collaboration with the City Treasurer's Office of Tagum and the University of Mindanao Tagum College to examine the effects of the pandemic on Tagum's commercial establishments, which served as the basis for new business tax policies, a study and improvement of current laws, and the correction of lockdown limitations' detrimental impacts.

Revitalization

In an effort to expand its operations in promoting and upholding the economic interests of Tagum City, Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., during its 4th Board of Trustees’s meeting on 3rd of June 2022, set up its three objectives, which are to: (1) strengthen its management system, (2) intensify recruitment effort, and (3) establish private-public partnerships.

To improve its management structure, it hired an executive director to secure its succession plan, launched the development of a website, and began automating its accounting system where the secretariat office asked NuevaSolTech for assistance with its programs. Additionally, it established the installation of its office, scheduled regular reporting to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and launched its official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/tagumchamber on June 3, 2022.

TCCCII ran membership initiatives and promoted new members as part of its increased recruitment efforts. In fact, recently, it ran video advertising showcasing some of its new food business partners.

To establish private-public partnerships, the Tagum Chamber filed an accreditation as civil service organization to Tagum City and Davao del Norte on coterminous date. It sought public partnership with Tagum City Development Council, Office of City Tourism, City Investment Promotion Office, Department of Education Tagum City, Local School Board, People’s Council Membership, and City Anti Drug Abuse Council.

Office Inauguration

The Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. opened its permanent office at Space 7, JFM Building, City Arcade on J.V. Ayala Avenue, Apokon, Tagum City, seventeen years after its founding and despite the ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic. This was done in conjunction with the launch of its official website (tagumcitychamber.com), on December 7, 2022, with the same commitment it had when it first began: promoting and upholding the economic interests of Filipinos, particularly the Tagumeños.
