13th GMM: Chamber gears up for city, province 2023 investment roadmap

On its second General Membership Meeting (GMM) this year, the Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (TCCCII) tackled the future of Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and investment roadmaps of the city and province on Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2023, at Miko’s Brew Tagum, Barangay Apokon, Tagum City.

The 13th GMM started with the turning over of 1,500 units of drug-testing kits to the Tagum City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), received by its Action Officer, Mr. Florencio Carlo Domingo.

Domingo gave his gratitude to the Chamber, sharing his autobiographical documentary.

“I am thankful for the initiatives of the government and the non-government organizations in countering drug abuse,” he said in Cebuano.

Speaking on the Future of Work, resource person, Ms. Admarie D. Marcelo, CPA, MM, emphasized that new roles of HR professionals will push a lot of upskilling to make organizations ready for the future.

“Human Capital Management and Artificial Intelligence are here. Business leaders should carefully describe their HR Strategy to stay competitive,” said Marcelo, the President and CEO of NuevaSolTech Co Inc., which is Tagum City’s first web-based enterprise software and engineering solutions company. She will continue her topic on People Analytics next GMM.

Meanwhile, Tagum City Business and Incentive Center, represented by Mr. Samuel Jake A. Barabad, MBA, presented the Tagum City’s Investment Roadmap.

Barabad delved into the Proposed 2023 New Tagum City Preferred Investment Areas, such as health, education, infrastructure, and eco-industry.

He also discussed on the Priority Investment Areas focused on industries in agriculture, tourism, cottage and light manufacturing, medium manufacturing, packaging, property development, information and communication technology, and transport and infrastructure. Green projects are also mentioned, including that of water management and new sources of energy.

Further, Ms. Joevynar M. Miedes, the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer (LEPIDO) of the Provincial Administrator’s Office (PAdO) - Davao del Norte Investment and Promotion Center, gave updates on the planned Davao del Norte Investment Conference (DavNor ICon) 2023 on September 27-29 which the Chamber will host this year.

The GMM also featured Ms. Cherryanne Lee Angoy, Founder and CEO of Artificial Intelligence Meets Human Intelligence (AIMHI), an AI-centric decision, profit-first construction management platform, and Mr. Giovanni I. Gulanes, Provincial Sports and Youth Development Office (PSYDO) Department Head.

Two new members took their oath during the meeting which was also attended by HR and Marketing Departments staff from member companies.
